WhereWe

Your recommendations, as a map people can save

When followers ask where it was, send one link. Every place opens in Apple Maps or Google Maps, and the whole map saves to WhereWe in one tap.

From post to map

  1. You post

Put the link in your bio

  2. An illustration of the page your link opens.

    They open the link

No app or account needed just to look

  3. The WhereWe map, with teal pins for places you’ve been and coral pins for places you want to go.

    They save it

Saved places land on their map as Want, with a note that links back to yours.

  1. Publish a map

Open a map you own, tap Share, then Public link. Give it a title, a description and a cover photo, and choose whether visitors see your notes and photos.

  2. Put the link in your bio

Your profile at wherewe.net/@yourname shows the maps you choose, with your bio and your Instagram and TikTok. Each map also has its own link to post.

  3. Get found in Explore

Turn on List in search and your map can appear in WhereWe’s Explore and search once a person approves it. A map needs at least 5 places to be listed.

Selling comes later

Publishing a map, sharing its link and getting listed in Explore are free, and they’re here now. Selling maps is coming in a later version of the app.

What your followers see

  • Your map, with its places grouped by city
  • Open in Apple Maps and Open in Google Maps on every place
  • Your notes and photos, if you choose to show them
  • Save this map in WhereWe, to keep every place in one tap
  • No app or account needed just to look

One link that keeps up

Your profile page collects the maps you choose to show, so the link in your bio stays the same as you add more.

A person approves every listing

Every word on a public map passes an automatic filter for slurs, sexual terms, hate and threats when you publish it and whenever you change it, and every photo is checked by AI before anyone else sees it. Before a map is listed in Explore, a person at WhereWe looks at it and decides. No automated check ever approves a listing on its own.

  • Your map is public as soon as you publish it. Its photos appear once they’re checked, usually within a minute.
  • If the filter finds a word that isn’t allowed, the map comes down until you change it or we’ve looked at it. A photo the check flags is never shown.
  • If several people report a map, it’s hidden until we’ve looked at it.
  • Where we can, we tell you in the app why something was declined. If you think we got it wrong, email us.

The ground rules

  • Your own recommendations, notes and photos, not copied from anyone else
  • Real places, pinned where they actually are
  • Say so in the note when a business paid you or gave you something to include it
  • No one’s private address, phone number or other personal details

Everything public follows the Community Guidelines.

Creator questions

Help

Does it cost anything to publish a map?

No. Publishing a map, sharing its link and getting listed in Explore are all free.

Can I sell my map?

Not yet. Selling maps is coming in a later version of the app.

Who can publish a map?

Anyone with a WhereWe username and a verified sign-in: email, phone, Apple or Google. On a shared map, only the owner can publish, and the places everyone added are included.

Can I share the same recommendations somewhere else?

Yes. You keep ownership of your map, and the license you give WhereWe is non-exclusive.

What if I edit or unpublish my map?

Edits go public straight away once their words pass the filter, and new photos appear once they’re checked. If you unpublish a map, its link stops working until you publish it again, but the places people already saved stay in their own maps.
